From October 20th to November 7th, 2025, the Mobile Centre for Environmental Education and Recycling of AB Vassilopoulos visited the Municipality of Chalkida, in the War Museum – Chalkida Branch, which hosted us in a place of particular historical value.

The initiative sought to strengthen the environmental education of students in the region and to familiarise children directly with modern recycling practices.

The response from the schools was very positive. Teachers and students alike showed remarkable interest and a genuine willingness to engage actively in the activities.

During the presence of the Center for Environmental Education & Recycling, over 1,400 students from 26 schools across all educational levels participated in the specialized recycling program.

They were introduced to the materials that can be recycled and to the environmental benefits linked to each practice. They placed materials in the designated machine, gaining practical experience of “sorting at source” recycling and of the incentive-based system that motivates participation!

At the end of their visit, every student received a commemorative gift: plantable pencils. A symbolic message that even the smallest act can spark something truly significant!

The Mayor of Chalkida, Ms Elena Vaka stated the following:

“Chalkida embraced the Recycling Bus with great enthusiasm during its stay at the War Museum – Chalkida Branch. Over 1,500 children from the Municipality of Chalkida’s schools visited the Bus, learned about recycling, and participated in hands-on environmental activities.
Our students’ strong participation and enthusiasm give us real optimism for the future. Environmental protection is everyone’s responsibility, and the new generation is showing us the path forward.”

The Deputy Mayor of Education, Youth and Lifelong Learning, Konstantinos Zervas, visited the Mobile Centre for Environmental Education and Recycling. He followed the activities attentively and spoke with great enthusiasm to the students.

“We thank TEXAN company, as Municipality of Chalkida, for its assitance and contribution to the important work of Recycling,” he said.
