The President of ΤΕΧΑΝ, Mr. Apostolos Mourgos participated in the "The World Ahead 2023 Athens Gala Dinner" by the Economist Impact, held on Friday 27/1/23 at Athenaeum InterContinental Athens.
The keynote speakers were Mr George James Tsunis- Ambassador of USA to Greece, Mr. Christos Staikouras, Minister of Finance, Mr. Tom Standage - Chief Editor of Economist, Mr. Noam Katz- Ambassador of Israel to Greece, Mr. Giorgos Taniskidis - President of Optima Bank and Mr. Kostas Axarloglou - Rector & Professor of International Business & Strategy at Alba Graduate Business School.
Mr. George Tsounis, US Ambassador to Greece stressed that "Greece is the fastest growth economy in Europe in the last three years"!
He also mentioned that «Greece is a country of solutions, and respects its neighbors. The United States look out for partners who act in a reliable and ethical manner in the region. The principles and values of our countries are absolutely identical."
In his presentation, Mr. Christos Staikouras pointed out that "Greece went beyond the expectations for growth. For the year 2023, growth will be twice as high as the European average, mainly due to improved exports and foreign direct investment".
The dominant trends worth watching in 2023 were quoted by the editor-in-chief of the Economist's annual forecasts edition "the World ahead 2023", Tom Standage. Some of the forecasts involve the war in Ukraine, the looming recession in USA and Europe, the conflicts between the major parties in the United States, the change of alliances amid geopolitical changes and the booming of China.

"The development of distance learning and remote work resulting from the pandemic," was mentioned in the context of the Economist conference by the professor and rector of Alba Graduate Business School- The American College of Greece Mr. Kostas Axarloglou.
