Great strategic collaboration between the Hellenic Olympic Winners Association and TEΧAN
The Hellenic Olympic Winners Association is joining forces with TEXAN S.A. - Environmental Management company.
The Memorandum of Cooperation was co-signed by Mr. Apostolos Mourgοs, President of TEXAN S.A. and the President of the Hellenic Olympic Winners Association, Ms. Stavroula Zygouri (Olympic champion of wrestling) on Monday, May 29, 2023 at the Grande Bretagne Hotel in Syntagma.
This collaboration is based on a shared vision for a better environment and aims to foster environmental awareness among everyone, especially the youth. Our initiative addresses the strong concerns of our stakeholders regarding the phenomenon of climate change and the ongoing degradation of natural resources due to human activities. Our goal: To preserve the sustainability of our planet.
After signing the Memorandum of Cooperation, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Winners Association, Ms Voula Zygouri, noted: “Undoubtedly, climate change is among the greatest threats to the planet in the century we are in, and it urges all of us to take action to protect it. We are depleting our natural resources much faster than they can replenish. Especially in our country, where we consume 2.5 times faster than can be replenished, it is the duty of each of us to contribute to reducing our 'ecological debt' to the planet. The philosophy of sports is closely related to the environment. Βecause sports require a healthy natural environment and can serve as a motivation and inspiration for deeper respect for nature. Additionally, it touches millions of people worldwide, making it an exceptionally powerful tool for creating environmental awareness among the general population as well as within the sports community itself, which inevitably plays a part in the environmental footprint.
Based on the principle that: A better “tomorrow” is ensured by the actions we take “today”, we decided our cooperation with TEXAN S.A. company. The reason is that besides its expertise in the field, it also demonstrates a strong social consciousness. It develops innovative Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives and provides significant support to organizations interested in environmental protection. By joining forces, we hope to achieve the universal participation of all ages in the recycling process and, at the same time, create "green" jobs that can benefit our Association members.”
The President of ΤΕΧΑΝ, Mr. Apostolos Mourgos stressed the following in connection with this new collaboration: "It is crucial for us to have strong allies in our effort to convey the message of proper recycling and the protection of our environment. Through raising awareness and educating the public, especially the younger generation, about the benefits of proper environmental management and the circular economy, we promote the well-being of all through the preservation of a clean and healthy planet. We are confident that through the actions of the Olympic Winners Association, and its members, the importance of recycling will be even more strongly emphasized, and environmental consciousness will be strengthened at every level."
