On Friday, 15/12/2023, the Big Educational Recycling Competition of Primary and Secondary Schools by the Municipality of Thessaloniki was successfully completed.

On Monday 18/12/2023, in the Water room at Thessaloniki City Hall, from 9 am to 2 pm, a number of students, teachers and school classes representatives who participated in the Big Competition, submitted their participation vouchers to TEXAN delegates.

Throughout the competition, 1,572,220 packages were collected (metal: 227.494, plastic: 1,241,201 and glass: 103.525) nearly 247 tons of packaging!

 

The schools that, after counting their vouchers, won the big prizes of the Big Recycling Competition are the following:

  • 1st Rank and the big winner of the competition is the: Experimental School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,A2 Class
    With 63,569 packages
    Prize: 5-day trip with all expenses paid to any city in Europe they choose for all students of the class.
  • 2nd Rank: 1st Model Lower Secondary School of Thessaloniki,B2 class
    With 51,660 packages
    Prize: 1 Action camera for each student in the class
  • 3rd Rank: 19th General Upper Secondary school of Thessaloniki, A1 class With 46,641 packages
    Prize: 1 Smart Watch for each student in the class
  • 4th Rank: 27th General Upper Secondary school of Thessaloniki,A1 class
    With 31,017 packages
    Prize: 1 Headphone for each student in the class

 

The active participation of children and young people in recycling through the competition organized by TEXAN is the most promising message for the environmental education of the young generation!
