With the participation of children and adults, the “6th Piraeus Recycling Festival” took place on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Korai Square. Now an established annual event, the festival highlights the importance of recycling, environmental education and active citizen participation.
For one day, Korai Square was transformed into a vibrant space for information, creativity, games and experiential learning, bringing together hundreds of children, students, families and citizens who took part in the activities and shared a common message: protecting the environment is everyone’s responsibility.
TEΧΑΝ Environmental Management once again played an active role in this major celebration of recycling, reinforcing its commitment to promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
A central part of the event was the state-of-the-art TEXAN Recycling Center, which operates permanently at Korai Square and serves as a modern facility for source separation and recycling.
Visitors of all ages had the opportunity to learn more about the recycling process and actively participate by recycling plastic, metal and glass packaging. At the same time, participants could enter a prize draw and win unique gifts, combining environmental responsibility with the excitement and enjoyment of participation.
The event was honored by the presence of Piraeus Mayor Mr. Yiannis Moralis, Deputy Mayor for Cleanliness and Recycling Mr. Panagiotis Reppas, as well as representatives of the Municipal Authority, while a large number of citizens participated in the day’s activities.
More than 1,000 students visited Korai Square and took part in educational activities and interactive games, discovering through experiential learning the importance of recycling and responsible waste management.

The festival concluded with awards presented to students, schools and citizens who stood out for their participation in the recycling activities, as well as with the interactive theatrical performance “The Smurfs: The Green Mission”, which delivered another important message about environmental protection to children in an entertaining and creative way.
