In 2007, the popular artist Michalis Hatzigiannis was proclaimed by TEXAN in co-operation with the Municipality of Athens and Love Radio 97,5 as "a Supporter of the Recycling Concept".
Michalis Hatzigiannis is actively involved in major events, educational competitions, environmental education programs and showcases recycling as ¨A lifestyle and a token of civilization¨ in radio and TV spots.
There are also other well-known artists (singers – actors), as well as Olympic champions and athletes, who participate in the official opening of Recycling Centers, events and competitions, bringing positive messages to younger generations and to adults.
At the event held on 28/4/2007 at the Integrated Rewarding Recycling Center operating at the junction between Kifisias and Alexandras Avenue, The popular artist Michalis Hatzigiannis participated, the then Mayor of Athens Nikitas Kaklamanis, the Director of LOVE RADIO Tasos Typhonos, several celebrities and 4.000 people. LOVE RADIO 97,5 broadcasted live from the event premises, through a live link while all the TV channels covered the event in central news reports, in live link connections and information-oriented shows. The beautiful event ended with the award of lavish gifts to the lucky people who participated in the big competition.
The "Great Recycling Celebration of the Municipality of Athens" is an annual established event and take place in Syntagma Square for 2 weeks. These are the biggest events taking place in Greece. Nearly 1.000.000 people are gathered during these 2 weeks. The competition concerns all schools in the municipality of Athens (elementary, lower and upper secondary schools). There exists an ¨Environmental Education Workshop¨, interactive games and many surprises.Recycling festivities are culminating to the nomination of winners (school classes that recycle the highest number of packaging), the award of prizes (1st prize: for all pupils of the winning classroom a trip to Paris for several days, sightseeing tours, visit Eurodisney and Europe's largest plastic recycling plant) and with Michalis Hadzigiannis concert with the participation of other singers.
