For the fourth consecutive year, the major recycling celebration organized by TEXAN S.A., in collaboration with the NextStep Media Group and the Municipality of Athens, was held with great success and the participation of hundreds of citizens on Friday, July 3, 2026, marking the International Plastic Bag Free Day.
At the heart of the event was TEXAN’s World’s First Mobile Multi-purpose PV Recycling Center, where visitors learned about the importance of “sorting at source” and actively participated in the recycling of plastic and metal materials. At the same time, specially designed plastic bag collection points gave citizens the opportunity to exchange their single-use plastic bags for reusable fabric bags, further promoting the reduction of single-use plastics.
Throughout the event, the radio station Parapolitika 90.1 broadcast live from Syntagma Square, spreading the message of recycling and sustainable development across the country.
Among those who honored the event with their presence were the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Mrs. Sevi Voloudakis, the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Mr. Kostas Katsafados, the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security, Mr. Kostas Karagounis, the Mayor of Athens, Mr. Haris Doukas, and the Deputy Mayor for Cleaning and Recycling of the Municipality of Athens, Mrs. Olga Dourou. They were joined by representatives of the State, local government, and hundreds of citizens, who actively participated in the initiative by recycling plastic and metal materials at TEXAN's photovoltaic mobile multi-purpose recycling center.
Participants who recycled materials were automatically entered into the event's grand prize draw, with an Electric Scooter as the top prize, along with a range of exciting technology prizes.
