TEXAN S.A. actively participated in the 5th Forum of the Association for Protection and Development of Mount Hymettus (SPAY) entitled “Hymettus 2030: Prevention, Resilience & Governance”, held on 12 and 13 May at Divani Caravel.


The Forum centered around critical issues such as the protection of Mount Hymettus, the prevention, civil protection, climate resilience, sustainable management, operational readiness, artificial intelligence and volunteering. Drawing large audiences, featuring high-level contributions, and ensuring active participation from representatives of the State, local government, academia, and the private sector, the Forum further reinforced its position as one of the leading platforms for advancing the protection of mountain regions and the sustainable development of contemporary urban environments.


In the context of the 5th SPAY Forum, the President of TEXAN S.A., Mr. Apostolos Mourgos, participated in the panel “Environment, Sustainable Management & Prevention” highlighting the role of innovation, the circular economy, and public-private partnerships in advancing recycling in Greece:


Investment & Development
The manufacturing facility for advanced American recycling technology equipment in Greece is transforming the country into a hub for equipment production serving the European market. At the same time, with more than 500 Multi-purpose Recycling Centers, TEXAN covers more than 50% of the population of our country.


Institutional Framework & DRS
The implementation of the Deposit Return System (DRS) for packaging is expected to act as a catalyst, allowing Greece to transform from a trailing performer into a pioneer in recycling and he congratulated Mr. Manolis Grafakos, Gen. Secretary for Waste Management Coordination of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (YPEN), for his presence.


Innovation & Sustainability
New mobile PV Multi-purpose Recycling center of TEXAN, a global innovation designed by Greek engineers of the company’s “Research & Development” department. Innovative equipment, responding to the challenges of seasonality and insularity of the country.


Social Contribution
TEXAN pays more than € 1,000,000 per month to citizens as an incentive and reward for participating in recycling.


Vision for the Future
 Greece can soon become a model of best practice at the European level, through the cooperation of the Government, Local Authorities, and the Private Sector.
