The biggest Recycling Festival at Zappeion by TEXAN & the Municipality of Athens
The celebration culminated with an unforgettable Zero waste live concert by Giorgos Mazonakis in front of 15.000 spectators
TEXAN, the leader in the field of manufacturing and operating high-tech automatic recycling machines, in collaboration with the Municipality of Athens, organized the largest Recycling Festival at Zappeion Hall from 18 to 24 September 2023, raising awareness on the importance of recycling among citizens, students and visitors. The celebration culminated with a unique live performance by Giorgos Mazonakis on Sunday, enchanting 15,000 spectators!
For a whole week, young and older visitors at Zappeion had the opportunity to learn the process of proper recycling at the 4 state-of-the-art "Recycling Centers" for plastics, metal, glass & paper with the "Sorting at Source" system, the most effective method for the protection of our planet. In addition, small children from schools in Athens as well as recyclers visited Zappeion, recycled packaging and took part in a competition winning great prizes such as electric bicycles, action cameras and smart watches. The Parapolitika Group was also present at the big recycling celebration at Zappeion, with the radio station Parapolitika 90.1 broadcasting live from the site all days with the show "Bad Girls" and "Agenda Live".
The big live concert event presented by Alexandra Kaymenou as hostess started with the awarding of the prizes of the big competition. The awards were given by the Deputy Mayor Mr. Nikos Avramidis and the President of TEXAN Mr. Apostolos Mourgos. Among the audience there were personalities from the political field, partners of the Municipality of Athens, corporate executives but most importantly... all of ATHENS!
The event was honored with the presence of the Mayor of Athens Mr. Kostas Bakoyannis and the Deputy Mayor Mr. Nikos Avramidis.
The Deputy Mayor of Sanitation & Recycling, Mr. Nikos Avramidis, stated the following: "We were all present, united attending the great celebration of recycling. This action aimed at informing, awakening and sensitizing people to put recycling in their lives. Because only if we all jointly participate can we move forward in protecting the environment. It is our duty to take care of the quality of life for ourselves, for our children and for future generations. We would like to thank TEXAN for supporting our efforts to bring recycling to the forefront of the Municipality of Athens.".
Giorgos Mazonakis stated the following : "A big bravo to the Municipality of Athens and to Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis for keeping Athens clean and for having changed it in just few years, making it better every day! Another big thumbs up for having increased recycling. Surely in your neighborhood you will find these recycling corners. I would like to invite all of us who are here today to pledge to recycle! It's no hard task! As long as we make the decision"!
The concert was held as part of TEXAN's Corporate Social Responsibility programs in collaboration with the MUNICIPALITY OF ATHENS; it is the first certified ZERO WASTE concert in Greece. In the courtyard of ZAPPEIO there were 4 state-of-the-art "Recycling Centers", as well as dozens of recycling bins of separate collection for all plastic, metal, glass and paper materials used during the concert and at the end of the concert they were all recycled!
