The Chamber of Viotia awarded the founder and honorary President of TEXAN, Mr. Loukas Mourgos for his contribution as a pioneer in the recycling sector in Greece, during the New year 2023 celebration, held on Monday 13 February 2023.
The event's key message was the following: "Viotia creates, produces, exports and moves ahead to the future with optimism."
The President of the Chamber of Viotia, Mr. Panagiotis Agniadis awarded the company for its important action in recycling and in promoting the principles of Circular Economy.
The event was attended by the Minister of National Defense, Mr. Nikos Panagiotopoulos, the Regional Governor of Central Greece, Mr. Fanis Spanos, his Reverence the Metropolite of Thebes, Livadia & Avlida Georgios, the MP Andreas Koutsoumbas, the Mayor of Livadia Mr. Ioannis Tagkalegas and other guests.
The founder and honorary President of ΤΕΧΑΝ, Mr. Loukas Mourgos, after thanking the President of Viotia Chamber, Mr. Panagiotis Agniadis said the following:
"More than 35 years ago, when I completed my professional cycle in the ALUMINUM OF GREECE, I decided to contribute to the development of recycling in our country, when this sector did not even exist in Greece and the word "recycling" was almost unknown. Today, this award for our work, taking place in the location where this journey started, fills us with joy, but it is also the starting point for our important social contribution to the place where we grew up and kicked off our activity. On this occasion, we are announcing that in cooperation with the Municipality of Livadia and the Chamber of Viotia, we will sponsor the creation of an “ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION & REWARDING RECYCLING” in Livadia.’’
Finally, during the event, the President of TEXAN, Mr. Apostolos Mourgos mentioned the following:
"I was very honored today on behalf of TEXAN to be granted this special distinction by the President of Viotia Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Panagiotis Agniadis. A distinction that rewards TEXAN for its important action in recycling and promoting the principles of Circular Economy & that is the pinnacle and recognition of our company's efforts towards a better, cleaner, and more sustainable future. Our father, Mr. Loukas Mourgos, who is considered the patriarch of recycling in our country, started back 1988 the first specialized packaging recycling company, when the recycling issue in our country was only limited to a linguistic level, because it was being searched whether the translation of the word 'recycling' would be 'anakyklοsi' (which was the right etymological approach) or "recycling-anakyklosi" (ultimately prevailing as more euphonic)!"
In concluding, he also stressed the following:
I would like to remind you that in the context of the Corporate Responsibility Program, TEXAN has started implementing the innovative program "We donate € 1.000.000 - It's up to you how to allocate it". Finally, I would like to congratulate the Chamber of Viotia for this special event. An event that best conveys the dynamic message that "Viotia creates, produces, exports and moves ahead to the future with optimism"!
